So, last year I started this blog and didn't keep it up as faithfully as I had anticipated. But, I'm back again this year to try to do a better job. I hope to keep this blog updated weekly, given parents a chance to hear and experience what their children are learning about at school.
This week, we have been learning about penguins. It has been AMAZING to listen to what the students already know about penguins. We read the story, Tacky the Penguin today. It was a hoot! The kids thought Tacky was hilarious. Tacky is an odd penguin that wears a tacky flowered shirt and is different from all the other penguins. His penguin friends are "perfect penguins". They greet each other politely, they dive gracefully into the water, and they always march 1-2-3-4. But not Tacky. He greets his friends with a loud, "What's happening?". He does cannon balls into the water and he marches like this: 1-2-6-3-2 1/2- 0. Needless to say, we had lots of laughs.
Things to Come:
***We will celebrate the 100th Day of School on February 1st. I hope you are beginning to help your child collect 100 items and decorate their 100th Day t-shirts.
***Please join us for a night of fun at Avondale. January 31st we will be having a Family Literacy Night. Come learn some fun games to play with your child(ren) at home and even take them home!
Kindergarten......It's More Than Just Milk and Cookies!
